Every plant has a unique purpose. We just need to observe and listen to them. As I spent more time in nature and observed the changing seasons, I became interested in herbalism. It has become my life's passion to incorporate the power of flowers into my daily routine, as well as to teach my children and anyone else who is willing to learn about the magic of the woods. I strongly believe in preserving the medicinal properties of plants that can boost our mood and help us maintain good health during the colder months. The essence of flowers, leaves, bark, and roots offer us their healing abilities and keep us content throughout the year. I use my tinctures in water, tea, and juice.
I take pleasure in homesteading by growing plants. From May until October, I explore the fields, valleys, and forests of Michigan to search for medicinal plants. I have a strong belief in the healing abilities of plants and I am constantly studying and discovering new things about plant medicine every day. I enjoy infusing plant medicine into my everyday life, such as in my tea, energy healing practice, aromatherapy, candle-making, cooking, and creating various gifts. collect the herbs in places where they are abundant and vibrant in the woods, fields, and minor roads around White Lake, Michigan, where they grow in quiet places with less pollution and no crop sprays. I typically harvest herbs when they are at their lushest and pick them up on a dry day, after the morning dew has burned off. Some aromatic plants like St. John's Wort depend largely on the sun's energy while it is high in the sky - so I make an effort to harvest those right at that moment.
I harvest mindfully to use only what I need and leave some of the plants to grow back, that's why you will notice many of the offerings sell out quickly as soon as the particular batch of the harvest is done - that all depends on a year and each is different.
I rely on the suppliers for root harvesting as well as for some of the other exotic plants that do not grow in my area, where I can harvest those in abundance.
I am glad with every season to see my old herbal friends and sometimes the new ones. The primary plants that I forage include Violets, Cleavers, St. John's Wort, Calendula, Chamomile, Rose, Mint, Catnip, Mullein, Echinacea, Lavender, Nettle, Raspberry, Bramble/Blackberry, Black Currant Leaf, Linden, Goldenrod, Plantain, Dandelion, Motherwort, Honeysuckle, Billberry, Yarrow, and Pine.
I use my herbal harvest by nibbling on a fresh plant (violets), crushing the leaves for poultice application, boiling some in the soup (Nettles), and using leaves as a tea. I consider plants to appear for us for a reason. I spend a lot of time with them, conversing with them, and listening to their intention. That is how my business began - somehow, I needed to harvest a lot of Cleavers one summer and I did not even know why. I began making tinctures and ended up with a surplus, just to later realize that the entire winter would be spent on people's need for them as many were struggling with adenoids and lymph issues. This herb has helped many children and pets too during 2022.
I am so grateful and excited that I can sustainably process these plants and preserve their properties for the seasons of need. My focused methods of preservation and processing include drying the herbs and creating cold infusions, decoctions, tinctures, glycerites, syrups, herbal honeys, skin creams, poultices, and bath mixings.
If you have found my store, it was meant to be, and I am delighted to share my plan medicine with you. My wish is for it to bring you health and joy. Just like the root structures of the trees and mushrooms, I believe that we are all interconnected and here for each other for a reason.
Blessings and Peace.
