ID Card Artwork Preparation Checklist

1. Design Specifications
Canvas Size:
Standard CR80 card: 3.375" x 2.125" (85.6mm x 54mm)
Recommended design resolution: 1050 x 661 pixels @ 300 DPI

Bleed Area:
Add 1/8" (approx. 0.125") bleed on all sides to prevent white borders when trimmed.
Final artwork size: 3.625" x 2.375" (1087 x 712 pixels)

Safe Zone:
Keep essential text/logos 0.125" inside the trim line to prevent clipping.

2. Color Mode
Convert artwork to CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) to better match print output.
Avoid RGB effects like bright neons or screen glows.

3. File Format
Use high-resolution raster (e.g., TIFF, PNG at 300 DPI) or vector (PDF, AI, SVG) files.
Flatten all layers if submitting raster artwork to prevent shifting.

4. Fonts & Text
Convert text to outlines (for vector files) or embed fonts.
Avoid font sizes smaller than 6pt — they can blur during dye-sub printing.

5. Photos & Graphics
Ensure images are at least 300 DPI at actual print size.
Use professional photo editing software to adjust brightness/contrast for print.

Avoid transparency effects (they may not render correctly).

6. Avoiding Print Issues
Use solid colors or simple gradients — complex effects may distort or band.
Don’t rely on screen brightness for visual impact — increase saturation slightly for better visibility on plastic.
Rounded corners: Standard CR80s have 3.18 mm corner radius — design with this in mind.
