A striking handmade-to-order natural sapphire beaded necklace featuring beautiful little 4mm blue sapphire gemstones wire-wrapped to form a chain of your preferred length of 16", 18", 20", 24", 30", or 36" long. The sapphire stones are a gorgeous deep navy blue color and have rough facets that glint in the light. They are wire-wrapped with 14K gold plated sterling silver (vermeil) wire and the necklace is finished with an antique inspired 14K gold filled filigree safety clasp to add special Art Deco era style to the design. The resulting necklace will be dainty enough that you can easily layer it with other necklaces.

My "Elegant Wire-Wrapped Gems" collection is designed as heirloom quality jewelry suitable for wearing during special occasions. I use only fine quality materials including natural earth-mined gemstones, as well as sterling silver and 14K gold filled metals. I've added special antique touches to each piece such as Victorian style leverback earwires with decorative accents and traditional pearl safety clasps with pretty filigree patterns. The resulting elegant jewelry pieces are suitable as an anniversary gift for a wife or girlfriend. The sophisiticated style would also be quite complimentary at formal events such as weddings, in particular worn by the mother of the bride and mother of the groom. Themes available are Birthstones (which are titled with the birthday month and detail traits of those born in that month as well as properties of the birthstone), Metaphysical Properties (which are titled with the stone name and describe the metaphysical healing properties of the stone), or Simple (which is a plain jewelry display card with pretty marbled white and gray pattern that matches the jewelry box).

14K gold filled is a higher quality version of gold plated jewelry. Instead of a very thin electroplating of gold, there is a very thick mechanically applied layer of gold to the brass metal core. By law, the amount of gold is a mininum of 5% of the weight, so this results in a very thick layer that doesn't wear away over time. 14K gold filled jewelry was common in the early 1900's, and as a vintage jewelry dealer, I have many of these pieces in my collection that still look just as beautiful today as they were 100 years ago. This is heirloom quality jewelry, that will last, yet is more affordable than solid gold.

General- All of my jewelry is wearable in water, however it is good practice to rinse it after wearing in salt water or chlorinated water to remove the damaging salts. Also it is best to remove jewelry when putting on sprayable hair care products to avoid residue buildup.

Sterling Silver- It will need routine polishing with a jewelry cloth. It naturally oxidizes (darkens) over time due to exposure with the air, water, or salt, and polishing restores its bright sheen. I only polish my routinely worn silver jewelry every 6 months or so. Due to variations in skin chemistry, some wearers may find their sterling darkens more quickly and they will need to polish more often.

14K Gold Filled / 14K Solid Gold- no special care is needed.

The necklaces lengths offered vary based on the style of the necklace. I can make most of my necklaces in an alternative length. Please contact me to inquire about a specific necklace. Also, there may be the option to add an extension chain so that the necklace will adjust by several inches. There will be an upcharge when adding extension chains or making longer necklaces in order to cover the base cost of extra materials.

Bracelets are typically made with an extender chain so that they adjust from 6.5" to 7.75" long. This range will accomodate most wrists in sizes generally considered to be small, medium, or large. I am willing to make any of my bracelets in shorter or longer lengths, so please do contact me to inquire.

French Hooks- Most of my earrings are made with a simple wire hooks.

Posts- Switching to a simple post with sphere design doesn't require an upcharge.

Leverbacks- Switching to leverbacks gives earrings a more elegant, formal look. They are more expensive that simple hooks and so will require a small upcharge in price.

Clip-ons- Switching to clip-ons is wonderful for those that can't pierce their ears. I have simple, elegant, high-quality clip-ons that I import from Europe. They are rather pricey so will require a moderate upcharge in price.

Yes, every gemstone I use is a genuine, earth-mined stone. The stones I select have been entirely untreated with the exception of a few stones that are only available with treatments (such as turquoise which may require stabilization due to its innate softness, etc). All of my stones are naturally colored as well. I source my stones from suppliers that I trust and have used for years, so I am confident in their authenticity.
