Knit a cosy garter stitch jacket for a baby or young child with this DK knitting pattern. Choose a fold-down collar or a hood, with instructions for adding two knitted ears to the hood. Each version has a button front and turned-back cuffs.

Sizes to fit chest:
• 0–3 months: 41 cm (16 in)
• 3–6 months: 46 cm (18 in)
• 6–12 months: 51 cm (20 in)
• 1–2 years: 56 cm (22 in)
• 3–4 years: 61 cm (24 in)
• 5–6 years: 66 cm (26 in)

Pattern details:
• DK (double knitting / 8 ply) yarn
• 4 mm knitting needles
• 5 buttons for the three smallest sizes; 6 buttons for the three largest sizes
• Tension: 20 stitches and 40 rows to 10 cm in garter stitch on 4 mm needles
• Separate front instructions for either buttoning direction

Yarn requirements, in 100 g balls from smallest to largest size:
• Collared jacket: 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4
• Hooded jacket: 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5
