Highlights
This piece fascinates me! It is an old metal advertising paper clip. The product being advertised was Fatima Cigarettes which were produced from the 1870s-1980s. These clips were popular advertising tools in the early 1900s. There is an old photograph in this clip of a girl on a beach dated from the 1930s. The clip is likely older than that. These clips originally came with a miniature calendar behind the celluloid window. When the calendar expired, people often replaced them with family photos. Many of the plastic coverings became distressed and removed, however this one is still in place. I am leaving the photo in place. It’s an incredible glimpse into the past. It’s definitely aged as one would expect. To me, that’s how I’d want this piece. It measures 3 3/8” x 2.75”. It functions perfectly. This is truly an intriguing treasure from the past!
