All my little ceramic houses and structures are handmade by me, one at a time. No molds are used. They are a solid form, giving them a nice weight. Each is unique and one of a kind.

I have this love for architecture and the iconic house shape. This love inspires me to make several styles of small buildings using various ceramic methods.

This particular house features Bumblebee Imagery. The evergreen areas are an underglaze that is brushed on during the clay drying process. Once dry enough I hand carve the botanical design into the underglaze down to the natural claybody color.

Once the clay is dry, I then glaze the entire piece with a clear. The last step in making the house is to create the decal imagery. I create and print my own decals. They are a waterslide decals applied to the finished glaze piece. They are then fired-on in a third step. A total of 3 firings are needed to finish this little house.

The overall feeling of the house is Vintage Modern. I enjoy searching for images to apply giving
the piece a visual richness. This house inspiration is the simple Bee. The imagery is a combination of Bee photos, a wallpaper design and poem about bees that I love.

The bottom of the house is left unglazed.
