If there was ever a novelty pattern, this is it. This early chintz pattern by fabric maker Kandell, from their Everglaze line of polished cotton fabrics, is from the late 1930s, early 1940s.

The pattern is a take on the early days of automobiles, with noisy jalopies scaring farm animals and splashing water on Victorian city dwellers. It appears that cars have always been a noisy nuisance to someone, somewhere.

Selvedge says a Kandell Design, Everglaze washable chintz. This yardage has never been washed or used and looks and feels brand new. Maybe this pattern is just the thing for your she shed, man cave, or garage curtains.
