Having a baby in the NICU can be very taxing to figure out how to allocate your time appropriately while taking care of yourself and still feeling like you can be present for your baby. Sometimes during your visit of a very early term micro preemie you may not even be able to touch your, baby much less hold them. Leaving your baby with your scent on the developmental heart can help your baby grow and research has even show it can calm and reduce stress in your baby while they navigate the trials of transitioning earth side. In return the scent of your baby can help ease your anxiety and may even increase production of breastmilk.

Your purchase includes a set of 2 hearts from the pattern choice selected. Wear one heart to bed tucked close to your skin letting the fabric soak in your scent (as a NICU nurse we really suggest tucking it into your bra), have Dad transfer his scent to the other side of the heart by using the safety pin provided to pin it inside his shirt to collect his scent throughout the day. As you transfer one heart to the isolette, take the other heart back home with you to enjoy the scent of your little one. Continue to switch the hearts out renewing your scents and the baby’s.

Lots of love and care goes into the creation of each heart made in a preemie approved environment free of animal hair, smoke or heavy scents.

These little hearts can be so special. If you have to leave the hospital while your baby is in the NICU it is very hard not to want to stay there every second. You can put one of these in a place close to your body then leave it in the incubator or crib and when you leave your scent will be close to your baby. While I purchased these for my great grandson I doubt that they will be used. So I think I will mail them to the NICU where he was and let them use them for another baby. I truly believe that after the traumatic experience of being born before their due date and all the baby goes through the Mother's scent after she leaves is definitely a plus for a growing preemie.

I loved these bonding hearts! They were bigger than I expected and great quality! It was so so hard to leave my daughter in the NICU at the end of every day and I was always worried she wouldn't know who I was when she was able to come home, but these hearts made it a little bit easier knowing she would smell her mama close to her 💜
