Sumba ikat weaving is a fabric traditionally made from the east of Indonesia, East Nusa Tenggara in Sumba island. The cloth is woven from strands of weft or warp threads previously tied and dipped in natural dyes. The loom used is a loom, not a machine. Ikat fabric can be sewn to be used as clothing and fashion accessories, furniture upholstery, or home interior decoration.

The weaving has different motifs and has its own meaning, in addition to color. The horse motif depicts heroism, majesty, and nobility because the horse is a symbol of self-respect for the Sumbanese people.
The chicken motif symbolizes the life of women and the bird motif, generally the cockatoo, symbolizes unity. In addition, the ancient fabrics also found motifs of lions, deer, shrimp, turtles, and other animals.

The work of this Sumba cloth is carried out by girls and women in Sumba.

Note:
- Do not bleach or use the washing machine or detergent/chemical. Just use clean, plain water and non-alkali soap.
During hand washing, it should not be soaked for a long time, but soak in until the entire cloth is wet.
