This beautiful kilim is from Yozgat and belongs to the 1960s. The material of this kilim was sourced from plants. First of all, people used to dry hemp plants. Then, they irrigated the plant a bit and leaved it to have moisture. After that, the plants turned into yarn.
Finally, the artisans used flat weave technique to create this art by hand with hemp yarn. The color of hemp kilims are originally in yellow. After they got washed, they turned out to be in white due to the nature of the hemp plant. Then, we also dye hemp rugs in different colors to match in any interior space.
There is an advantage I would like to mention about hemp kilim rugs. It may not sound right, but it is the truth. The hemp kilim rugs are cool in summer and hot in winter.
According to my experience over the last couple of years, there is very high demand on my hemp rugs because all of them were washed and cleaned professionally and ready for use.
