THE WAND
In myth after myth the serpent is the shedder of skins: the symbol of rebirth, renewal and hidden knowledge, coiled around staffs from Asclepius to Hermes. Iron is the old metal of protection and grounding, the metal folklore says spirits and the fae will not cross. A serpent forged in iron is a wand for shadow work, endings and new beginnings, protection magic and rituals of change. It is heavy enough to feel deliberate in the hand and tough enough to last generations.

CARE
Wipe with a little oil or wax now and then to keep the finish and protect against rust. Keep it dry.

WITH ITS OWN FORGE SCALE
Every wand is forged to order, and comes with a small pouch of forge scale from its own forging: the flakes of iron or copper that fall away as your wand is heated and hammered into shape. It is the wand's own skin, shed in the fire as it became itself. I include a printed card with the Forge Scale Hallowing, my grounding and blessing rite, so you can consecrate the wand with its scale, bind it to you and make it your own. At its heart you hold the scale beneath the wand and speak the binding words: "I offer you the skin you shed to become your true self, so that you may see my true soul, and we are bonded eternally." Keep the scale to ground your wand again whenever it needs it. Iron scale can be laid across your threshold in the old way of guarding a home; copper scale can be kept by the door or hearth to draw warmth and luck in.
