HANDMADE ORIGINAL - This listing is for a Textured Embroidery-Style Flower Earring Set Flexible Mold.
This is for the mold only, any embellishment or jewelry is for display or detail purposes.
IMPORTANT!! Please read all information on molds prior to ordering from my Shop.
All WellsMade molds are made using silicone putty. Over the past few years I have acquired a special method in making molds perfect for casting. All molds are quality checked prior to shipping to confirm they are in perfect condition. Please examine your mold upon receipt and prior to use to verify there are no pre-existing damages. If there are any concerns regarding your mold, please contact before using. Using silicone molds can be an easy process, but requires special attention to a few factors and I will do my best to cover these areas to make your casting process easier and to achieve great results. Due to the release of heat (exotherm) of resin and the damage it can cause if not used properly, I will no longer be refunding for damaged molds resulting from improper use of resin.
WellsMade ORIGINALS
Any listing that is a WellsMade hand-made original will be noted accordingly. These items are not without slight flaws or imperfections, which adds to the character of the finished piece. You are more than welcome to use these molds to create your own jewelry for personal use or to re-sell. However, you do not have the right to re-create and re-sell these molds under your personal or business name. If you do create jewelry of your own from these molds to sell, if you could be so kind as to mention WellsHandMade as the place you found the molds. Have fun!
PRODUCT
All molds are used with a silicone mold-making putty and is excellent in mold making castings with media such as polymer clay, precious metal clay, resin, soap, wax, plaster, chocolate, sugar, fondant, and even ice.
FOOD COMPLIANT
Mold putty complies with FDA 21 CFF 177.2600 and can be used safely in contact with food. It is highly recommended to allocate molds intended for food use to only be used for food and no other casting material to prevent contamination.
DEMOLDING/MOLD LIFE
Mold life expectancy is a variable of many different factors; length of time media is in the mold, release of heat (exotherm) of resin being used, intricacies of the detail in the mold, the force needed to demold, etc. Even with these factors, there are some things you can do to get the most out of your molds and extend the life:
1. Use mold release such as Stoner Mold Release Spray or Alumilite UMR Mold Release, cornstarch, baby oil and with some molds, isopropyl alcohol. If using molds for food applications, use a food-grade release agent such as Pam cooking spray.
2. Avoid leaving castings in the molds any longer then they need to (especially overnight). With resin, due to release of heat (exotherm), remove castings as soon as they have cooled/cured.
3. Fondant or Polymer Clay tip: Once you put fondant or clay in mold, set in freezer for a few minutes for easy removal from mold. Some flexible molds can distort fondant or clay if it is too soft or warm.
4. Use silicone oil to condition molds whenever you stop production for a day or two, or when storing molds for periods of time. Store molds in a clean and dry environment.
5. Molds can be easily washed in soap and water.
CASTING RESIN IN MOLDS
Due to the release of heat (exotherm) with resin, it is important to follow some guidelines to prevent damage to the molds.
1. Use mold release agent as stated above.
2. When demolding, use care in lifting molds that have holes or bails for jewelry, and raised areas. Demold slowly to prevent tearing or breaking.
3. Avoid leaving castings in the molds any longer than they need to (especially overnight). See above Mold Life.
4. Using a cotton swab, apply isopropyl alcohol along top edge of mold to help with demolding.
UV RESIN
Yellow Silicone Putty is not recommended for UV resin as the UV light cannot reach it so it won’t cure and remain sticky. Use of clear molds is recommended so the light can reach all the resin and cure. It is possible to use UV resin, if you work in very thin layers and cure them one a time; however, this can take a long time to cure the final result and layer lines may be visible in the end.
BAKING MOLD
Molds can withstand oven temperature up to 395 degrees.
