Vejigantes have a connection with Carnival, a Puertorrican festival that begins in early February, just before Lent. In Carnival, the vejigantes are reveling characters that interact with the crowds and cause mischief with the inflated bladders (vejigas) they carry. With their characteristic snouts, sharp teeth, and multitudes of horns, vejigantes cast a distinctive silhouette to this internationally celebrated festival.

Inspired by this festival, these intricately hand carved, designed and painted vejigantes are all uniquely created with extreme attention to detail. Each piece is an original labor of love, that you will identify with from the moment you set your eyes on its artistry.

This unique vejigante is carved from wood, hand painted, framed (originally mounted on a laser cut 5.5” x 5.5” disk).
