One-of-a-kind wheel thrown and altered stoneware clay vase container featuring a hand painted and carved design of whimsical sunflowers flowers on the stem. This is a low and wide vase with a big enough opening to make it suitable for a fabulous planter. A delightful array of sunflowers in light blue, periwinkle purple, lilac, pink, lime, and olive green with a bud and leaves on a white background.

Approximately 7 inches high, 5 inches wide, and 6.5 inches long.

My ceramic surfaces are achieved with colored underglazes that I paint on. I will often mix colors to achieve different tones and colors. After the underglaze dries, I carve into the designs with a pin tool, which reveals the dark clay beneath while creating contrast that makes the design pop. I also like to highlight pieces with hashmarks, dots and scratching, which gives more visual and surface texture. All pieces are then finished with a clear, shiny glaze.
