This vintage gold ring is set with a 9mm, deep red garnet cabochon.
It's quite a dark stone but the garnet lights up in daylight and the setting is fenestrated beneath the stone to allow more light in.
The ring weighs 2.9 grams and measures 3.7mm at the back of the shank, narrowing to 1.22mm at the shoulders. It's a nice, substantial ring built to be solid rather than to use as little gold as possible as is often the way these days.
It's a size J1/2 now (US size 5) and I can size it up to around a P at no extra cost.
It's finished as new apart from some dinks in the surface of the stone that are only noticeable under magnification.
