Cleaned barrel heads, unfinished whiskey tops

This item is for a real used and refurbished bourbon barrel head (top). We take a wire wheel brush to it and clean off all the char, dirt, and grime, but they are NOT sanded, so you will need to sand your item once you receive it. The top itself measures approximately 21.5 inches in diameter and roughly 1 inch thick and weighs about 14 pounds each.
All our bourbon barrel heads have been dried out, so they are ready to use. Barrel head move, crack, shrink, etc. as they are dried out after being soaked in bourbon for many years, so if you are buying a raw head, make sure they have been dried out before purchasing.
Every top we get is different, so they might not look exactly like the ones in the photos. Each top is made from multiple boards that are friction fit to stay in the barrel. As they top dries out it can do many things, such as, can shrink, expand, crack, break, etc. The pieces sometimes won't lock together anymore, or the pieces just don't fit as tight as they did, so they will need to be glued together and/ or add a wood backing board to hold it together.
We will add the backer board for you if you pick that option. Our backer boards are made from 3/8" plywood that we paint black, so they don't show from the side of your new top as bad as raw wood does.
We ship these tops together, but they may come apart in shipping. Since we remove the loose char, they will be cleaner than uncleaned tops. They will still need to be sealed to keep the char from getting on your hands or whatever they come into contact with.
You have several options when buying these tops.

Buffalo stamped: This is a real used Buffalo Trace stamped barrel head. We will clean the head with a wire wheel to remove the loose dirt and char. These tops are in varying condition. Some may have humps, broken joints, may not fit together perfectly. I will try to find the best top possible. The stamps will be readable but may not be perfect. They are stamped for distillery use not for our art. If you want to see photos of what I have available before purchasing, message me and I can send them to you.

Buffalo with back: We will add a black plywood back to a real used Buffalo Trace barrel head. This will keep your new head together and ready to use. The above description tells about the top itself.

Extremely rough top with/without a bung. These tops are the very roughest tops available. They might have chunks missing or holes in them. They will not fit together or lock into place. These are the tops that we cannot do anything with at all.

Rough tops may not go together perfectly or in some cases at all and there may be large cracks between the boards. These tops will be good for projects where you are using parts of the top for different projects, or you don't mind a hump or larger cracks in the top. There also may be large chunks of wood missing. if you want a nice top to hang on the wall or use as guest sign in book this, isn't it pick a blank or stamped top. These heads may or may not have stamps and they may or may not have bung holes.

Blank/Stamp top with a bung hole. These tops will have a bung hole in the center of them. Not all of them have the bungs included, if you want one that has the bung, leave a message at checkout and I will make sure to find you one. These tops may not lay perfectly flat or lock into place, but the pieces will fit together.

Blank tops won't have any distillery markings on them. These tops may not lock into place or lay perfectly flat but are our nicer tops and all pieces will fit together nicely.

Stamped tops will have some type of distillery stamp. The stamps are done at the distillery, and some are applied better than others. We take these off the stack first come, first serve. These tops may not lay perfectly flat or have all the pieces lock into place, but all of them will fit together nicely.

Both blank and stamped heads will be mostly flat with small cracks if put together properly.

Box of parts this will be at least 10 lbs. of barrel head parts. They may not be from the same head and will be good for making small crafts or for using in your smoker.

All barrel heads have defects, which include but aren't limited to cracks, checks, discoloration, uneven boards, and missing pieces of wood. We try to find nice tops for this item but keep in mind they won't be perfect. They have all spent years in the distillery Rick house. They have now dried out, and the wood has moved.
