Dharma Acid Dye Recipes – Inspired by DROPS Yarn, Classic Collection (PDF Download)

Dharma acid dye yarn dyeing recipes inspired by DROPS Yarn colours. I have mixed Dharma Acid Dyes to create brand new dye colours for this vintage, classic natural colour collection. Add more brown or black to the recipes to tone them down or brighten them up! Download the PDF, print it and staple your samples. Use this template as a starting point, learn to mix dye colours.

Colours in this collection were mixed, recorded and then tested on 10g of natural white Mohair Yarn fibre and bright white 4ply wool yarn.

ABOUT

As a graphic designer turned fibre artist and with background in colour theory, I absolutely love mixing dye colours. Most colour books I am working on are made using a systematic approach. This collection is not based on any system. I used DROPS yarn colour palette as inspiration and then added my own favourite colours for a classic vintage or natural look. I set out to use only a specific number of Dharma Acid Dyes that are on the easier side to use. By easy to use, I mean colours that bond to the fibre more easily and at a similar rate (except for True Turquoise, which seems to require higher heat or longer dye time). Dharma dye colour 'Moss' in Muffs Classic Colour Collection is the original version and the mixture has since changed. I am expecting any recipes with the new version of 'Moss' to be a bit more yellow as stated on Dharma Tradings website.

Note: Dharma Acid Dye colours are reformulated by the supplier from time to time. I will continue to test all Dharma acid dye reformulations. Sunflower Yellow has been discontinued. Replace it with Brilliant Yellow.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Purchase the order on Etsy. Download the PDF Files with 65+ New Colour Recipes.
Once you open the PDF, there will be a link for the Canva Template.

2. Create a free Canva account and edit the template in your browser or the Canva app.
Edit & Customize with auto save feature.

3. Download your high resolution png, jpg or pdf print file.

CANVA TIPS

If the field is empty for your recipe, I recommend keeping the dash as a placeholder for text. If you delete it, the placeholder will disappear and you will need to add a new one and they do not line up easily.
