The contemporary wire wrap jewelry is hand wire sculptured using sterling silver wire around the recycled Fordite Detroit Agate cabochon to form this collector’s item handmade wire wrap pendant statement necklace. The bail is large enough to accommodate various style chains.

Each Fordite wire wrapped pendant is handmade by me from inception to finished product. They are not mass produced nor manufactured.

Fordite or Detroit Agate is a recycling of the enamel paint overspray that accumulated with time in the vehicle assembly process. Layer upon layer, paint over-spray built up on metal racks that transported new car bodies through the paint shop, and into the oven, where each coat was baked hard. This process of painting cars is no longer used so the material is rare & coveted. This particular cabochon stone is from the Corvette factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
