Seller's description
Give your guitar a premium custom look with a solid rosewood pickguard featuring a colorful abalone outline inlay. This pickguard is made from real natural wood and shell, giving each piece its own unique grain, color, shimmer, and character.
The abalone border catches the light beautifully, adding an elegant custom-shop style detail without overpowering the natural warmth of the rosewood. It is a great upgrade for acoustic guitars, Taylor-style builds, custom instruments, replacement pickguards, and luthier projects.
This design is available in three size options to fit different guitar bodies and rosette sizes.
Size Options
Please choose the correct size for your guitar:
GS Mini / Short Scale Size
Designed for short-scale guitars and Taylor GS Mini-style guitars with a 5" rosette diameter.
T5 Size
Designed for full-sized guitars with a 5" diameter rosette.
T55 Size
Designed for full-sized guitars with a 5.5" diameter rosette.
TD5 Size
Designed for full-sized guitars with a 5" diameter rosette.
If you are unsure which size you need, please measure your guitar’s rosette diameter before ordering.
Product Features
Solid rosewood guitar pickguard
Colorful abalone outline inlay
Available in 3 size options
Premium natural wood and shell materials
Great for guitar upgrades, restorations, and custom builds
Each pickguard is unique due to natural rosewood grain and abalone color variation
Elegant alternative to standard plastic pickguards
Because these pickguards are made from natural rosewood and abalone shell, each one will vary slightly. Please expect natural differences in:
Rosewood color
Wood grain pattern
Darkness or lightness of the wood (most in stock are dark)
Abalone color, shimmer, and pattern
The photos shown are examples. Your pickguard will have the same overall style, but the natural materials make every piece one of a kind.

Free Mount, Hybrid Free Mount, 3M Installation, Pickguard Care, and Return Policy
Discover the innovative Free Mount system for your custom guitar pickguard. Designed to revolutionize pickguard attachment, the Free Mount system ensures that up to 90% of the pickguard remains slightly elevated above the guitar’s surface. This ingenious design offers many benefits, including protection against top cracks caused by binding a solid object to the wood top. Instrument tops are made of wood, which expands and contracts with changes in air temperature and humidity. The Free Mount system does just that and allows for easy installation and removal! Gone are the days when 3M tape required permanent commitment, where a single misstep could mean starting over. This flexibility is a game-changer for guitarists who value precision and versatility. It also enhances the guitar’s resonance by allowing the top to vibrate more freely than with traditional attachment methods such as full-sheet 3M double-sided tape.
Optionally, I am now offering a hybrid version. This uses the same backing, but instead of the Free Mount tape, you can get ¼" strips of 3M tape. The 3M tape I use is not the same as other pickguard tapes and can release more easily than standard 3M tape. The hybrid system is recommended for any guitar with a lacquer, nitrocellulose, or oil-based finish, as the Free Mount tape does not work well on those finishes. Install the Hybrid Free Mount pickguard the same way as the standard Free Mount, but make sure placement is correct before the 3M tape adheres to the top, as it is harder to remove than the Free Mount tape. As you can see in the photos, the advantage of the hybrid vs the standard 3M is that the pickguard is not completely covered in 3M; there's enough to hold it in place, but it allows for the top to expand and contract better than if a full piece of 3M were used.

Important Pickguard Installation with 3M Tape
I recommend watching a few installation videos; in my opinion, Leo Posch’s video stands out as the best. In this tutorial, Leo demonstrates the proper steps for cleaning, aligning, and accurately positioning a pickguard. Please watch this video before proceeding with the installation. Broken pickguards cannot be returned, so it’s crucial to get it right the first time.

Pickguard Removal (3M Tape Backing)
If you need to remove an original pickguard, this is an older video, but it's excellent. https://youtu.be/f6K76ACe2XI?si=VLudbQaBmMyX8ezM
Pickguard Care
Do not use any chemicals to clean your pickguard; use a dry or slightly damp microfiber cloth to wipe it clean. Please keep your guitar stored in a case with proper humidity and climate control to protect the wood. If you do not, the pickguard may warp (too warm or too dry). If you don't have a case, placing your guitar on a stand, using a guitar humidifier, a hygrometer, and sealing it in a large plastic bag will help maintain the right environment not only for the pickguard but for the guitar as well. Although you may not see any changes in your guitar, these conditions can affect the tone. It's important to keep your guitar humidified.
Pickguard Return Policy
1) Pickguard Return Policy with Free Mount: If returning a pickguard with Free Mount, since once installed, it cannot be switched back to the 3M tape, the $5 upgrade is nonrefundable.
2) Pickguard Return Policy with 3M: The backing must be intact and never removed from the pickguard. Please do not try to remove and then reinstall the 3M backing. After years of making these, I know when the backing has been removed. Removing the backing will change the pickguard’s status from new to used, and you will receive 50% of the purchase price, provided the pickguard is undamaged and still usable. If it is returned damaged, whether the damage occurred during an incorrect installation or during return shipping, you will not receive a refund. It's extremely important that all returns be packaged well. If you return it in an envelope, even if padded, the USPS machines will break it. I've seen this happen.
3) There is a 20% restock fee for all pickguards that are cut/made to order. Made-to-order is made in each order. Custom inlay orders are non-refundable.
4) Shipping is nonrefundable; the actual shipping will be deducted from the refund to cover shipping on all orders, even if "Free Shipping" was offered. If two or more items were shipped together and you keep at least one item, we will not deduct the shipping charge.
