Vintage Scottish Glass Paperweight, 20th Century Millefiori Art

Rare and unusual glass handblown paperweight made in the 20th century in Scotland, probably in Caithness. It is 9cm in diameter and 6.4cm high and has an extraordinary arrangement of millefiori inside. The colour chosen is milky cream white with light orange flowers circulating and at the centre a sophisticated light green citrus colour is chosen. Right at the bottom are copper flake incisions.

The whole effect of this vintage paperweight is almost that of a French patisserie making you want to eat it! It is heavy weighing 640gm indicating that only a top class glass master could have handled such a heavy piece of glass with millefiori and moulded it into a perfect dome shape.

Though vintage it is in excellent condition, no damage, but naturally there are slightly visible indications of wear at the unseen underpart.

Certainly a collector's item, a fabulous decoration for your library or an unforgettable gift for someone special.
