Victorian Mourning French Jet Choker and Drop Earrings Set-

This is a beautiful ORIGINAL mourning set. This is French jet, which is a finely made french glass that is meant to replicate traditional (Whitby) jet. French jet is heavier.

I believe that the clasp on the choker may be 14 karat because it tests as such, but I am officially going to say that it is filled or rolled gold, because I am not certain. I believe the choker is from the mid to late 1800s and it is in original condition. It is small at just over 13” and could have been a child’s necklace so please measure before you purchase.

The choker is extremely delicate, and I would highly recommend either wearing it with major caution, or having it restrung. There are flea bites, wear and slight chips on both the necklace and the earring. There is a larger chip on the earring, which I showed a picture of.

I believe that the drop earrings are base metal. I have not tested or cleaned them. I don’t know if they were originally meant to be together, but I purchased them in the same place and think that they look wonderful together so I am selling them as a set. I suspect the earrings may be a little newer, but I honestly don’t know for sure. The methods used to create them could easily date to the mid to late 1800s as well.
