My partner and I decided to make these after a traumatic end to his drinking days. He and I were good friends from our college days, but our feelings for each other had been kept secret. Ten years later, we’d only been dating for six months when his liver went into acute failure without warning and he ended up needing an immediate transplant. When I went looking for a way to mark his progress we found that there weren’t many secular options. We wanted something colorful, celebratory, something with meaning. The transplant, and the last drink he took, was a second chance at life. One he and I waited ten years apart to start.

Every single person who has ever struggled with substance abuse and recovery deserves to celebrate the moments of success. We may be apart, but we are not alone.

We will donate 10% of our proceeds to support people going through liver transplant. Many of them face intense discrimination due to the social stigma associated with alcohol use disorder along with other substance related disease. No person deserves a death sentence based on disease or because they can’t afford the medical care. We want to contribute however we can.
