Hand knotted necklace with a variety of magical beads! Made with crystal, glass and other beads that were leftover from projects. I slowly acquired them over long periods of time and then organized them into color schemes to make unique pieces!

Some beads included are: lava stone, onyx, aquamarine, green moonstone, quartz, howlite, apatite, amethyst, snow quartz, lapis lazuli, black tourmaline and more!

Colorful strings of beads are found all over but for me these were inspired by Norse festoons. Festoons were usually strings of beads and charms hung between two brooches. They often didn’t “match” like how most jewelry is put together now and were usually predominantly handmade glass beads. Despite depictions in movies and games the Norse people LOVED color and embellishments. Silk, variety of color and patterns, etc. When I was active in the Society for Creative Anachronism I made festoons often and taught others how to create them. I may not be active now but I’m still a modern inclusive Heathen and love wearing strings like these as a nod to the clothing once worn. 🌈

Completely hand knotted on blue nylon cord. There is no clasp. Instead the ends are knotted multiple times and fused with direct heat.

Approximately nearly 25.75 inches around.
