The Gowanus Surf Club is the only Surf Shop serving the Gowanus Community in Brooklyn, New York. It was founded by Chick Eldridge and his family in 2020 to wait for the perfect wave on the Gowanus Canal. After years of scorn and neglect, the EPA declared the Gowanus Canal a Superfund Site with plans to restore it to its natural beauty. The plan is to clean the Gowanus Canal of its most toxic waste and then pump bazillions of gallons of water into the canal to wash the rest of the waste out to sea. This plan will result in a large wave traveling the entire distance of the Gowanus Canal. The Gowanus Surf Club is dedicated to surfing that wave. Until then, we wait . . .
