MY PROCESS:

I begin creating jewelry by filling a crucible with recycled silver, mostly I use fine silver but occasionally make sterling silver by adding a portion of copper to fine silver. I utilize clean scrap and leftover bits from casting or pieces of metal left over from fabricating other jewelry. These scraps are melted into an ingot that I press into sheet metal or draw out into wire. It is a tedious process but allows me to have zero waste and continue to offer ethically made jewelry and fully hand crafted goods. Where most hobbyists buy premade sheet and wire that contain anti-tarnishing chemicals and alloys, I prefer the old methods and also knowing what is in the metal I am using. Tarnish (when silver turns black) isn’t my enemy, it is a natural process of oxidation and it adds depth to my high relief designs. My lost wax casting pieces are all sculpted by me in house and when I have access to the equipment, I do my own casting.

I design all of the jewelry you see here, deriving the majority of my inspiration from nature, whether it is the texture of tree bark, hag stones, crystal matrix, roots or other things I may find on a trail hike, seashore or someplace from memory. I have lived all over the country and experienced a lot of what mainland America can offer. From the verdant press of trees here in Oregon to similar evergreen forests in Maine. From the rocky reefy coasts of California to the marshy bayous and gulf coast shores of Louisiana to the red rock hoodoos of the Southwest’s four corners. The undulating repeating patterns of organic matter holds a magic that I believe our mind perceives beyond thought, much in the same way that scent evokes emotion.

WHAT’S INCLUDED:

Polishing cloth, anti-tarnish paper and your item will arrive in a plastic baggie that is best used to store your item when you are not wearing it, this minimizes extra tarnish accumulating on your items surface.

If you are building intention into your piece, I suggest drawing a symbol or sigil on your polishing cloth and using this cloth to wipe down the item before and after wear, this simple ritual can go a long way.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
When you are not wearing your piece it is best to keep it stored in a jewelry bin or some closed container to keep the surface from tarnishing. I send along a polishing cloth and anti-tarnish paper along with a baggie to help you with this. Wiping it down regularly if you wear it often will help keep the shine.
