The French Quarter of New Orleans is one of my very favorite places to paint. The variance of the city, elegance of it’s architecture, and the mystique of it’s streets draws me to it. My favorite time of day to paint a scene is those few fleeting moments when day becomes night. Every color becomes more vivid and saturated in depth in those magical moments, leaving me to wonder how many people have experienced this glorious moment in this historical spot. I enjoy capturing a view that I would enjoy spending a couple of hours in front of, taking in all the flavor of my surroundings.
I paint in an impasto style using oil paint with palette/painting knives. Painting with palette knives allow a freedom I never enjoyed with brushes. I'm drawn to New Orleans cityscapes and Louisiana landscapes. I'm inspired by the vibrant vivid colors and heavy textures achieved with this three dimensional painting style. I enjoy capturing a view that I would enjoy spending a couple of hours in front of, taking in all the flavor of my surrounding.
All of my prints are produced from my original artwork and are printed on heavyweight premium paper using hi-definition archival quality inks. The quality of these prints show the rich color, depth and texture of the paintings. All images are matted with archival quality white mats, backed with backer board, and protected inside a cello sleeve.
