Original Ceotha Design

This cord is made up of nine knots, all of which represent either love or eternity. It consists of six cords which have been tied, woven and braided into a continuous design of Celtic knots. In addition to choosing different colours, this cord can be customised by choosing different accents for the braided sides (the listing is pictured with small leaves along a jute cord). About handfasting:
Literally the origin of the term “tying the knot”, handfasting cords are part of the Pagan wedding tradition. However, especially in Scotland and some other parts of the UK they are also often incorporated in humanist, non-denominational, or Christian weddings.

About Ceotha:
I am a Scottish Artisan, specialising in intricate handfasting cords based on Celtic Knots. I pride myself in designing all my cords from scratch, with great care and attention being paid to the overall aesthetics, easy of use, texture, materials, and the meaning of the individual knots used. Since designing the first original Love Knot in 2017, I have loved expanding the range of my designs and treasured the opportunity to be able to provide meaningful accessories for celebrating love one knot at a time.

I am always happy to customise the design in almost any way imaginable. This includes custom colours, knots, material and end adornments (such as charms, leaves, feathers, or beads). However, for any customisation beyond changing the colour scheme, please message me before ordering your cord, since the customisation might impact the processing time and costs of the cord.

PROCESSING TIME:
Please assume that the item will require the maximum processing time stated on Etsy. However, since our cords are made to order, some delays can occasionally sneak in. If you have a tight deadline, make sure to send us a message and we will do everything in our power to meet it.

SHIPPING:

To US, Europe, and Australia:

- Standard (tracked, included in the cost of the cord) Royal mail aims to deliver within 7 working days but parcels are prioritised and tracked. This means that you get a number to track your delivery and that the parcel will likely arrive a few days earlier than it would with standard shipping.
- UPS: If you are in a rush, UPS can deliver your parcel within 2-3 working days. Please send your phone number when ordering as this is required when booking the shipment and will avoid delays. UPS to Australia will incur a surcharge to cover the extra cost.

To UK:
- 1st Class Recorded will deliver your cord within 1-2 days of shipping

This question depends on a variety of factors. First, refer to the listing to see the item’s processing time. These vary slightly.

Love Knot, Heart Knot, and Infinity knot: 3-5 business days

All other knots (except custom from scratch designs): 2 weeks

Custom designs: depends on the complexity and materials needed for the design.

With some cords, a ‘RUSH’ option is available, which means that the cord will be made within 3 working days. However, this can only be done if the only personalisation of the cord is changing colours or adding ends that I already have available.

Customised charms or anything else that takes me a few weeks to procure are not compatible with rush orders. If in doubt whether what you have in mind qualifies for a rush order, please get in touch.

YES. A thousand times yes. We are all about customisation and making the cord special to YOU and YOUR celebration of love.

We can generally add a variety of end decorations and change colours at will or play around with the structure of the cord. If what you have in mind is not mentioned in the item’s description, please send me a message and I can let you know if it’s possible.

Our cords are shipped from the UK.

For international delivery, ‘standard’ (no surcharge and not tracked) delivery takes around two weeks, ‘tracked’ (+£5.50) is usually a bit faster and takes around 7 business days, UPS (+£30.00 to US, may vary to other destinations, please get in touch) gets it there in 2-3 business days and DHL (+£40.00) takes 1-2 business days.

Absolutely. If you would like me to design something for you from scratch please get in touch with a few ideas of what you have in mind – and ideally a few pictures for colour reference and to give me a better idea of the ‘vibe’ of your upcoming celebration. We’ll discuss ideas via the Etsy messenger and once I have a clear idea, I will send you a sketch for approval.

If you are looking for a custom design, it’s best to start this process with plenty of time still to spare before your big day – normally a minimum of a month before.

the cords we make come in two different designs:

Center knots: Cords that are designed with a decorative knot in the centre (e.g. ‘Love Knot’, the ‘Triple Love Knot’, or ‘Bloom’) are tied by placing the center on the couple’s hands and tying the in whichever way you and the person conducting the ceremony prefer.

Infinity Knots: Cords with a loose section in the middle (such as the ‘Infinity Knot’ or ‘Wild Spirit’), are tied around the couple’s hands in a particular way (check out the video in the section above). If tied this way, the couple then withdraws their hands and pulls on the ends of the cords, leaving the cord in a beautiful infinity knot.

Most of our cords can be adjusted to come in either style.
