This original oil painting is from one of my favorite scenes from the Labyrinth movie. It is on an 11-inch by 14-inch stretched canvas. Glitter was applied to parts of the painting as was some imitation gold leaf. I wanted to capture the sparkling elements of her look and this scene in the movie.

This painting was both challenging and fun for me. As I worked on the painting the color scheme evolved into the final result, leaning more into the pinks and purples rather than the greens and yellows present in many of the ballroom photographs. While this painting isn’t entirely realistic I did want to capture the general look of Jennifer Connelly’s features to make her recognizable. I really like how she turned out and I hope this painting will bring lots of joy and interest to its forever home.
