If your Pink Butterfly (Kalanchoe × houghtonii 'Pink Butterflies') doesn’t get enough sunlight, the pups will turn green 🌿🟢.

Because the plant is variegated, its bright pink coloring relies heavily on sun exposure ☀️🎨. The pink "butterfly" pups actually lack the chlorophyll needed to live independently 🫶🏻. A lack of sun causes the plant to produce more chlorophyll for survival, making both the new leaves and the pups turn entirely green 🟢.

To keep those pups and the mother plant vibrantly pink, follow these care tips:

Light 💡: Expose the plant to bright, indirect sunlight or filtered full sun. If keeping it indoors, place it near a bright east- or west-facing window 🪟☀️.

Acclimation 🐢: If transitioning it to a sunnier spot, do it gradually so the leaves don't get scorched 🔥.

Soil & Water 🌵💧: Plant in a very well-draining succulent or cactus mix. Water deeply, but only when the soil is completely dry 🧊.
