It's easy to be inspired by Scandinavian culture. One thing that is associated with Scandinavian is the kuksa (guksi, holz tasse, wooden bowl, kuksa cup, coffee cup, ククサ, beer mug).

Kuksa has long been a part of Scandinavian society, partly for its practicality.

Kuksa has long been made from birch, and out of it are still most of the kuksa made. This is because that the northern birch grows very slowly and is therefore very stable durability and a nice appearance. In the past it was used a lot by Sami people, but now it is used all over the world, and is a very popular tool.

Our handmade wooden kuksa cup from Witaberget are 100% hand carved with knife and ax and 100% ecologisk nature. That is because our products are made from trees that are near us and that do not have a long transport route. The trees are taken out of the forest a few at a time and not all at the same time. The trees that have been removed are planted with new seeds that will grow back into large trees one day again. In this way, it does not affect animals or nature, and it provides a sustainable future for our earth.

Our kuksa is not only eco friendly, but is also perfect for outdoor, travel, reise, bushcraft and wild camping uses too. Perfect for the cozy weekend at the campfire. Imagine, you're about to go on a picnic with good food and a delicious drink. Instead of a lot of annoying crockery that you have to let go with you and that also makes a lot of noise, you can take one of our kuksa instead. It will be more quiet in your backpack .

In order to use kuksi for drinking, it needs to be oiled (commercially available refined cooking oil), otherwise there is a great risk that it will crack. We send our kuksa without oiling, to give you the opportunity to decide for yourself what you want to use it for. If you want it as a decorative ornament, it does not need to be oiled. If drinking/eating from it is planned, it needs to be oiled, partly for hygiene and to prevent it from cracking.

The oiling process is not complicated at all, and you will get quickly into the routine.

things not to do with your kuksa !

We do not recommend washing the guksi with dish soap, only under running waterand then wipe it out with paper or a clean towel!

Do not put your kuksa in your dishwasher!

do not keep it in direct sunlight for too long, as there is a risk that it will crack!
