I was inspired by the shape of a ouija board planchette and how much it looks like a birdhouse. Coraline is one of our favorite movies of all time. This birdhouse features the traditional "yes & no" from ouija boards, but also a ghost eye, the stone hole, and the Coraline button key. The front of the birdhouse is printed in one piece using multiple colors of filament. The back of the house is printed with a fuzzy texture. It is sealed to protect against the elements.

This one of a kind birdhouse measures approximately 6 inches across, 7 inches high, and 6 inches deep. The hole is 1.5 inches across. Features a stainless steel hanging loop as well as a hole in the back to mount it to a wall or a tree. The front unscrews in case you need to clean out a nest. There are drain holes in the bottom to encourage air flow and drainage.

I like to think of the bird houses as having two purposes - first, as a home for birds, and second, as "tree jewelry."

These birdhouses take approximately 24 hours to print. I don't print them in mass or in a print farm. I design them, select the colors, print them, and assemble them one at a time. I typically design them without a perch. According to Audobon, "Birds don't need them and they only make it easier for predators or unwanted birds to get in."

I designed the house and 3d printed it in PLA+ - which is a plastic made from renewable and natural materials such as corn. 3d printing is not an exact science and may have slight flaws and imperfections that add to the charm.
