Made from the finest fibers available and Handspun by ScherStudio. I LOVE making these yarns. And the spin is a little thick and thin, indicative of a Handspun yarn. This yarn is fractal layered and hand spun. It graduates from one color throughout. A gorgeous blend of natural fibers with Angelina intermingled for a sparkling effect. Larry Zeigler has been a professional photographer for over 40 years. And, yes, he is my brother. I am always struck and impressed with his ability to bring out color, texture and proportion in our natural world. (He’s also taken some pretty impressive portraits over the years.) He has an absolutely crazy sense of humor which is surprisingly balanced by his sense of beauty. Larry’s photography can be found at Z Man Light Play on Facebook. There will be more yarns inspired by his photography in the coming months.

This piece is called Passion Flower in the Mountains. He was drawn by the contrasts between the white, orange and deep green. This one is a close up to show the intricacy of the flower which has a pollen with an intoxicating effect. It literally makes bees and other pollinators drunk. So many wild flowers in the NC mountains - this one is rare but wonderful to find, if you know where to look.

I layered these colors using the fractal core spinning method. The same fibers repeat several times throughout each skein.

I spun this yarn on my Kromski Minstrel spinning wheel, plying twice to get a more even twist. Then I soaked it in a tepid bath with a touch of Dawn and dried it in the sun. It’s clean and fresh. Beautiful combinations. The fibers combine to make a dk to light worsted weight yarn. WPI: 10 - 14.

This yarn looks gold in the photo, but is actually a golden olive green; luckily, I like the real color even better! Otherwise, everything about the item and transaction was perfectly fine. Nice packaging, quick shipping!

Kimberly - I’m so glad you were happy with the color. Getting accurate photos of the colors in fiber is a challenge. Many fibers will reflect whatever color of light is above it. Incandescent, indoor light has a tendency to make things look more yellow. This one was hard to capture. That Malabrigo fiber spins into beautiful yarn. I’ll have more soon.
