Aluminum does not tarnish, it stays silver in color. It can rust,but as long as water doesn't sit on it for a time it will be fine. Copper,bronze,and brass can oxidize over time to a darker hue.

I use strong nickel and lead free chain and findings, sometimes steel.

For pretty much any metal,stamping on the back doesn't work. Stamping pushes the metal in and makes markings on the back,so stamping on one side is pretty much all we can do normally.
