This is a wooden Kumihimo marudai, just over a foot high, solidly build by our shop and ready for your own creations! It’s a sturdy stand of wood legs and base, held together with bolts. The laser cut decorative top, with 32 notches for Kumihimo braiding, is maple over a walnut backing.

It comes to you disassembled; you simply attach the legs (3 stainless steel screw-on bolts and 3 black bolts are included, 3 top and 3 base bolts). It’s easily portable…you can unscrew the legs with a slot screwdriver and an Allen wrench when you travel and reassemble at your destination. You can disassemble the marudai for storage as well. You can choose whether to put the stainless bolts on the top or bottom, and the black bolts on the other end. We include an Allen wrench for tightening the black bolts (see the picture with all the parts laid out).

You have the option of having us engrave your name on a walnut plaque on the base, up to 15 letters.

We recommend you use weights for both the cords and the emerging finished braid. We provide 8 weighted bobbins and a center weight as an option for this listing. You can read about them here:
