BlackBox 120 system includes everything you need to start scanning your medium format (120-type) film with a DSLR or a mirrorless camera:

- high-quality light with CRI=98
- medium format film carrier
- adjustable height between 30mm and 340mm using height extension sections for compatibility with lenses up to 140mm focal length
- lens mount with a set of step-up rings to match virtually any lens
- 3 additional film masks allowing for 6x9, 6x7, 6x6, and 6x4.5 formats

Key features of BlackBox 120:

1. High quality light.
BlackBox 120 comes with a photographic light panel from Rybozen. This light source was selected for high-quality light with a Color Rendering Index CRI=98, optimal color Temperature = 5000K, and a 125x100mm illumination area with an optical diffuser. The light source is powered over a USB-A cable from a USB charger or a power bank. Rybozen light panel can also be used separately from BlackBox 120.

2. Perfect masking and alignment by design.
BlackBox 120 is built from high-density PLA and ABS components for maximum stability. Its functional design is created with one purpose - to always hold your camera perfectly parallel to the film plane while completely masking it from ambient light. In contrast to other setups, the camera doesn’t need leveling or alignment. For optimal masking of your frames, BlackBox 120 comes with 3 interchangeable masks: 6x7, 6x6, and 6x4,5, while 6x9 is the native format of BlackBox 120.

3. Adjustable height.
BlackBox 120 has 5 height extension sections: 20mm, 30mm, 40mm, 100mm, and 150mm. The extension sections connect using a bayonet lock (insert and twist). They can be stacked up in any combination to match the focal distance of your macro lens. The distance between your lens and the film can be adjusted between 30mm and 340mm. It makes BlackBox 120 compatible with lenses up to 140mm focal length when scanning 6x9 format. Additional extension sections are available by request if needed.

4. Compatible lenses.
Your lens is mounted on top of the BlackBox 120 using the filter thread. Any lens with a filter thread diameter of 77mm, 72mm, 67mm, 62mm, 58mm, 55mm, 52mm, 49mm, or 37mm is compatible.

5. Film carrier.
BlackBox 120 comes with Canon Film Guide QM3-2695-000. It holds 22cm of cut medium format (120-type) film and fits 2 6x9 frames, 3 6x7 frames, 3 6x6 frames, or 4 6x4,5 frames. The film holder ensures that your film is not scratched during scanning while keeping it flat in the focal plane. The distance between the film plane and the diffuser is designed to be 7.5mm - enough to throw into the out-of-focus area all potential dust particles accumulated on the surface of the light table.
