French antique Panier de Ferme, provisions basket.
Such beautiful faded coloring. Late 19th century, early
20th was used to go to market usually for holding eggs.
Made from intricately woven grasses, brass studded
leather edging (which has worn), and metal handles.
Has a tiny leather strap closure at the top with metal turn
key. Waxed fabric interior. 4 brass feet at the bottom.
Measures; 9.5" length, 7" height, 5.5" depth.
Metal parts and handles showing oxidation and natural
wear from use. Basket is showing timeworn fading, with some
breakage. Leather piping on the sides are damaged and some
missing. The lining is damaged/cracked at the folds although
clean and free of odors. Expect imperfections but overall a
very charming piece of French history.
A collectors piece, and would make a lovely display.
