This is an Ejiko pot with a baby kokeshi doll inside, by Teruyuki HIRAGA (1972-) in Tohoku, Japan.
The flower pattern of traditional Sakunami kokeshi is called 'Kani Kiku moyou'. Kani means 'crab', Kiku is 'chrysanthemum' and moyou is 'pattern' in Japanese.
Ejiko is one of the names for cradle in Japanese, which was used while parents were farm working in a rural area.
He finished the surface with a grainy texture. You can feel the soft touch of the wood.

He was born in1972. He started learning to make kokeshi from 1987 under the guidance of his grandfather Kenjiro Hiraga and his father Kenichi Hiraga. Teruyuki is the fourth member of the Hiraga family whose work belongs the HIRAGAKOKESHI- TEN.
