I guess I really love dragons! I've made three dragon patterns--and they are fun to create! I designed this pattern in the Spring of 2012 for a class I was teaching. We were creating items for Summer Seasonal tables--a summery tableau in your home. We made dolphins, mermaids, and more, but I wanted something new, something special. This pattern was the fruit of my labor.
This is a fun pattern for someone who has at least a little bit of sewing experience. You can use blanket stitch or whip stitch when sewing. I feel this pattern is best made from wool felt and stuffed with stuffing wool. Acrylic felt just doesn't seem to hold up, and wool felt is such a great renewable resource. You will also need some wool, mohair, or other fibery locks to make the pattern. I sometimes have some "dragon" felt on my site, and I am considering putting together some kits. The pattern has several pictures and explanations. It is three pages long. The finished size of the dragon is about 6 1/2 inches long and 2 1/2 inches tall.
This pattern comes in a PDF. I can also send it in Microsoft Word. If you would like a hard copy printed on cardstock, let me know and I can make a listing that would include the cost of the cardstock and shipping. Once you purchase the pattern, if you haven't received the PDF within 24 hours, please contact me so we can figure out where the pattern may have gone in cyberspace. This is a really enjoyable pattern to make. I never tire of it. Please keep in mind that this is a pattern for personal and classroom use.
For a great display idea, put a dead branch in a coffee can weighted down with rocks. You can paint the branch to look like coral. Drape a sandy colored cloth to cover the can. You can hang your sea dragon and other watery friends (fish, sea horses, etc....) from the branches. Please contact me with questions. Thanks so much for lookin'! Happy Handwork!
