So, I'm delighted to offer this brand new sketchbook reproduction, launched at the Staithes Festival of Arts and heritage on 16 September 2023.
Staithes has been an intrinsic and influential part of my artistic development since the first Arts and Heritage Festival in 2012: I’ve been lucky enough to have taken part every year since then, so this, the first Festival for four years, seems a good point to publish a new, totally Staithes-themed collection of my drawings of this fabulous village, curated from the last ten years or so. There is new work alongside old work, and often of the same subject: I once remarked that there’s a view round every corner - it’s why the village is such a magnet for artists. My fascination with the jumble of streets,the magical rooftops and clusters of cottages continues to this day.
The book’s title ‘The Colours of Staithes’ was chosen as I simply love the palette: the iconic red roofs, the blues of the sea, the lush greenery surrounding the village and the golden sand - just magical.

The book has 32 A5 pages, a heavy 350g card cover, and inner pages on 160g- all on a nice tactile uncoated stock, which I find best to replicate the look of the original drawings in my sketchbooks.
