TIPS
.......
* If you prefer the quilt smaller, you can adjust your print setting to scale them down by any percentage, but remember to maintain the same aspect ratio and do the exact same percentage scale down for all blocks and sashings!
* I designed this quilt pattern with the fabric line "Chic Escape" by Tilda in mind. However, the quilt will look gorgeous in any fabrics as long as they have good contrast with each other to bring out the details of the Cheongsam. The black-and-white images of the quilt blocks provide a suggestion for your fabric selection in terms of darkness and lightness of the fabrics.

STORY BEHIND THE PATTERN
...............................................
When I first laid eyes on the images of the Tilda's Chic Escape fabric collection, I immediately noticed the oriental elements in the fabric designs. When I was trying to design a quilt pattern for the Chic Escape fabrics, I wanted it to lean oriental. Guess which oriental garment always feature large flowers and peacock prints? Cheongsam. The design you see is the result of a long winding road from conception to the final design. I had to balance its likeness to a real cheongsam with feasibility to piece. The pattern also has to accommodate those lovely large prints.
Now, of course you can use any other fabrics that you like. There are plenty of chinoiserie or oriental fabrics that would make equally (if not more) beautiful Cheongsam blocks. Just be mindful on the fabrics' contrast so that you retain the Cheongsam details, especially around the collar, which I think is my favorite part of the block
