Vintage Lapidary Journal Magazine for Artisans, Gem Cutters, Silversmiths, Gemologists, Crafters and any interested in the Geosciences.
Years ago, when it took real talent, time and money to become published, and photography was EXPENSIVE, Lapidary Journal set the standard for the gem and mineral hobby.
Some of the photographers are now world-renowned and, some of the small hobbyists are now famous in various fields.
The best part of these magazines is that most of the articles are still timely. The gemological arts progress, but do not change a lot. What this means is that these magazines are packed with information that is from some of the leading experts in the world, and it is still valid.
The prices in the old ones will astound you. The articles and ads will amaze you. If you buy antique jewelry, or collect minerals or gems, the photos will help you date it.
For instance, the ubiquitous “International Gem and Jewelry Show actually started as a small show run by a family out of Bethesda, MD. (The founder taught me how to cut gems) If you are familiar with the ads of today, you will crack up at the old ones.
Great historical items, hard to find, all are mostly mint condition, and are from a personal collection. Due to life circumstances, the owner had to discontinue reading them, and some are still in the original plastic wrapping.
If you would like to purchase more than one, let us know, and we will reserve them and find the best shipping method for you. (Lower, of course, lol)
