With this crochet pattern you can learn reading charts by following written instructions and comparing how described and charted stitches look like - charts allow to have a better overview of the WHOLE project and correct any of your mistakes at once (therefore chart crocheters are able to finish their projects sooner since they spend their time crocheting and not reading lengthy texts :)).

The width of this skirt depends on the number of squares. This crochet tutorial includes calculations for 3 possible sizes of squares (11-13 cm = 4.3-5'') and how many will apply for hips measured 67-120 cm (26.5 - 47'') for sizes ranging from XS (and even smaller) to 2XL.
All information about different sizes is provided in the form of tables. You will be able to adjust your maxi skirt for any height (even if you are smaller or higher than the model) and for different yarn available in your country (slightly thinner or even slightly thicker than required).
If you aim to achieve the same result please look for 100 % cotton 3 or 4 ply / 450-480 m in 100 gr / 490-525 yards in 3.5 oz / Fingering or Light Fingering / category by yarnstandards.com is 1: Super Fine.
Crochet thread number 5 works too (thread number 10 will be too thin).
