Seller's description

Story of this piece:
I work out of a small studio, a workbench, and the kiln. The wheel is an old Shimpo I picked up years ago. It’s not fast or fancy, but we understand each other. The kiln is an electric one when I was starting out, and it’s still going. I load it carefully, cross my fingers, and open it the next day like a kid unwrapping a present.

* Unless stated otherwise, the price is for one piece. *

Every piece starts as a lump of British stoneware clay. I’ve tried others, but I keep coming back to this stuff. It throws well, holds its shape nicely, and has a quiet, off-white warmth after firing that I never get tired of.

The glazes are all mixed from scratch in the studio. They’re food-safe, lead-free, and made with ingredients I feel good about putting my own lips on. No mystery chemicals, no worries. Just colour that comes out of a bucket of liquid rock and turns into something glassy and permanent in the heat.

The mug itself:
On this listing you’ll find two sizes of small cups — perfect for espresso and cortado.

2 oz — approximately 4 cm wide and 4 cm tall. A classic single or double espresso cup. Small, sturdy, and just the right shape to cradle in one hand.
4 oz — approximately 7 cm wide and 5 cm tall. Slightly wider and shorter, ideal for a cortado, macchiato, or a piccolo latte.

I also make 6 oz and 8 oz cups, but those have their own listing.

Don’t see the exact size you want? Just send me a message. I’m happy to make a different size for you — no need to order a whole batch, I’ll make one special cup just for you. I’ll give you a quote, no pressure.

Yours won’t look exactly like the photos. The glaze might pool a bit deeper in one spot, the rim might have a tiny wobble from my thumb. These aren’t mistakes. They’re fingerprints of the process. Every mug leaves here with my maker’s stamp on the bottom, and no two are the same.

A quick word about sizes for coffee lovers:
As a rough guide, here’s how these sizes usually line up with what you’re drinking:

2 oz — single or double espresso
4 oz — cortado, macchiato, or piccolo latte

That said, it’s really down to you. Some people pull a ristretto into the 2 oz, or pour a strong little filter coffee into the 4 oz. Whatever works.

Care:
Microwave and dishwasher safe, so use it hard. I still wash mine by hand because I enjoy the ritual; warm water, a soft sponge, a moment of quiet before the day starts. Hand washing will keep the glaze looking its best, but the mug won’t complain either way.

Packaging:
Everything ships in eco-friendly and recyclable packaging. Paper, cardboard, filler, no plastic. I pack each piece like I’m sending it to a friend, because I’d hate for you to open a box of dust. If you’d like a little handwritten note included, just ask — it’s free.

Delivery:
For international orders, I ship with Royal Mail Standard with no-tracking. Once it leaves the UK, your local postal service takes over and delivers it to your door. If 20 days go by after dispatch and there’s still no sign of it, please reach out and I’ll sort it.

If this mug feels like it belongs in your life, I’d love to wrap it up and send it to you. Thanks for reading.
