UV Purple LED Fibonacci Earrings: Rechargeable Glow-in-the-Dark Jewelry

I’m so excited to share with you my latest creation: these unique earrings that are actually mini UV LEDs. They emit ultraviolet light that can make anything glow in the dark. How awesome is that?

I designed these earrings with the idea of combining fashion and science. They are not only beautiful and stylish, but also fun and educational. You can use them to create glowing effects for your outfits, accessories, art, and crafts. You can also use them to explore the natural world and discover what glows under UV light. You’ll be amazed by the colors and patterns that you’ll see.

The UV LEDs in these earrings have a wavelength of around 395 nanometers, which is close to the border of visible light. This means that they emit some purple light that you can see in the dark, but not during the day. However, this is not a problem, because these earrings are not meant to be seen by themselves. They are meant to be used with other materials and paints that have fluorescent or phosphorescent properties.

These stunning Fibonacci earrings are a perfect way to show off your unique sense of fashion while still being environmentally friendly. They are powered by hybrid supercapacitors, which can be recharged quickly and have a much longer lifespan than traditional batteries.

Why did you make it?
I have been looking for alternatives for disposable coin cell batteries that I used on wearables and these new hybrid supercapacitors were the answer. I created the original Fibonacci earrings with Zinc-Air batteries last year, and those were a big success, but these earrings use supercapacitors instead of batteries. I rewrote the code to make the wearable very energy efficient and as a result the power consumption is under 1mA on most modes. This allows the use of a super capacitor where the energy storage is much lower compared to a battery.

What makes it special?
These Supercapacitors can be recharged quickly (within 3 minutes after running for 16 hours) without any degradation in performance over time, like with traditional LiPo batteries. The capacitors are able to keep the wearable powered for at about 16 hours, and after that you just plug it into an outlet for a recharge! Super capacitors are much safer than traditional batteries and they can be charged up to 500,000 times without any harm or damage to them.

The earrings have 104 LEDs per side, which can be programmed to display a variety of patterns, brightness and speed. There are five modes to choose from:

Demo Mode: This mode features a pre-programmed sequence of patterns.
Random Mode: This mode generates random patterns.
Party Mode 120bpm: This mode displays patterns that update at a rate of 120 beats per minute.
Party Mode 140bpm: This mode displays patterns that update at a rate of 140 beats per minute.
Spotlight Mode: Brightest setting to have maximum glow from fluorescence paint and fabrics.
Manual Mode: This mode allows you to customize the patterns.
