A sweet little something for your loved one or yourself.
Each dish is handmade by me in my home studio. Each is hand shaped and hand decorated using the Mishima technique*. Each piece is then fired, glazed and fired a final time to temperatures over 2000*F (1190*C). All materials are non-toxic, lead-free, and food-safe. These dishes are dishwasher safe (top rack), however I suggest washing them by hand.
At ~3" X 3", these are perfect trinket dishes, spoon rests, tea bag rests, ring/jewelry dishes, etc! You will receive one of the dishes pictured.
Please Note: Due to the glossy nature of the glaze, there may be some glare marks from the lamps in the photos that are NOT actually present on the actual dish.

*Mishima is a technique whereby fine lines are incised into wet clay. A different color of liquid clay (in this case black) is then inlayed into these incisions. After the piece is fired once, color and glaze is added and the piece is fired a final time. The name Mishima comes from the Japanese Island of Mishima, but it was originally developed in Korea around the 16th century.
**Each of my ceramic pieces is entirely handmade, unique and one-of-a-kind. Each is formed by hand and hand painted. As such, each piece is "perfectly imperfect," and may contain color variations, small color "flaws"/dots etc. This is the charm of handmade! You will receive the exact item pictured. Please look at the photos carefully to identify any unique "imperfections." Please also be aware that any ceramic product that is "perfect" is probably slip cast, a method in which "liquid" clay (slip) is poured into molds and left to harden. The hardened pieces are then removed from the mold and fired. Many potters do not feel that slip casting is truly handmade.
I spend my summers in New Mexico, the "Land of Enchantment" and my winters in San Diego, the "Golden State." The enchanting skies, mountains, mesas and high deserts of NM and the sunny skies and beaches of CA inspire me and my work every day. I send a bit of New Mexico and/or California with every piece!
