What are French seams?

At Manufacture de Lin, we believe the smallest details make all the difference in creating clothing that looks and feels beautiful. That’s why we use French seams as a standard in our manufacturing process. French seams ensure our garments look and feel as good on the inside as they do on the outside. This technique neatly encases raw edges, eliminating frayed threads to enhance durability and ensure your clothing lasts longer. Additionally, French seams create a smoother finish, making garments more comfortable against your skin. While this method is more time-intensive than overlocking, we believe it’s the best technique to ensure our garments are crafted to the highest standards.

What types of materials do you use?

Our linen is crafted from 100% European flax at a centuries-old linen mill in Europe. All our fabrics are OEKO-TEX certified, ensuring they are free from harmful chemicals and meet both U.S. and European safety standards.

How do I choose the right size?

In keeping with the philosophy of slow fashion and the relaxed nature of linen, all our garments are designed for a loose, comfortable fit. To find the perfect size, please refer to our size chart to compare the garment’s measurements with your body measurements. If you prefer a more fitted look, we recommend selecting one size smaller than your usual measurements. For customized sizes, lengths, or sleeve specifications, please contact us to discuss your needs or include your measurements in the 'Notes' section at checkout. We’ll ensure a tailored fit just for you.

Can you customize a garment?

Yes, we offer basic customizations that don’t require altering the sewing pattern. We can adjust sleeve length, overall garment length, neckline height, or waist seam. Please feel free to contact us to discuss your preferences.

If you’re not completely satisfied—perhaps the size isn’t quite right or the style doesn’t suit you—we’ll gladly provide a refund or exchange for a different size, color, or style. You have 30 days from the date of delivery to initiate the return or exchange process. Please contact us before shipping items back. Inspired by the rich cultural traditions of Medieval Europe, our versatile linen shirt is re-imagined for the 21st century man: dashing TARASA, with full-length sleeves, a smooth collar and laced neck opening; earthy COLLOMIA, same as TARASA but with a rustic, raw edge neckline. Perfect for every mood and season. All styles feature a relaxed cut and back detailing featuring a shirt-style yoke and central box pleat. Available in our rich palette of 30 colors.

• To create clothes that look and feel beautiful, we know that the small details make all the difference. That is why, at Manufacture de Lin, we use French seams as standard in our manufacturing process. It is important to us that our clothes look and feel as good on the inside as they do on the outside.

French seams tidy away any protruding threads, meaning that your clothes will keep their strength and last longer; plus they are smoother and thus more comfortable against your skin.

Although this is a more painstaking method compared to over-locking (used by many of linen clothing brands); we firmly believe this is the best technique to ensure that your garments are tailored to the very highest standard;

CARING FOR YOUR LINEN GARMENTS

Our garments are made in a small studio in Kyiv, Ukraine with the best quality European linen. We hope they can last for years and with careful care, they can.

Washing
• You can do hand or machine wash on gentle cycle in cold water, no spin-drying.
• Please always separate dark and white clothes.

Drying
• For this type of clothes line drying is preferred, however if tumble drying, use a low heat setting.
• It's better to remove from dryer or line slightly damp to avoid over-dry.
• Air drying is best for the longevity of your linen fabric, but it can leave it a bit stiff.
• Linen doesn’t like to be exposed to direct sunlight!
• Please don’t wring out your linen clothing. If you want to get rid of water, just put them on a drying reck or place them on a padded hanger completely flat. - And be careful with the regular clothespins — they will markup the fabric.

Ironing
• We think it's best to iron linen fabric when it’s still slightly damp. Do it on the seamy side.
• Embrace the wrinkles! Natural crinkled texture of linen is even attractive, however, if you prefer a smoother texture, then use a low heat setting.

Storing
• Rule number one: no direct sunlight. Store in a dry and cool place. Your clothes will stay healthy and new if you let them breathe. Better hang them on the coat hangers. If you fold your linen and put some other clothes on top, it can wrinkle a lot.
