Handmade ceramic sitting "white" barnyard cat vase / tumbler measuring 5-3/4" high.

This hand-thrown vase was made from dark brown clay and adorned with a charming sitting cat who boldly gazes out at the viewer. The cat is supposed to be all white but came with little peach patches out of the gas firing - you never know 100% what is going to come out of a reduction firing which is part of the fun. The cat shape is thickly applied white slip - when the slip was dry the cat's features were drawn freehand and decorated with oxides and engobes, which give the cat added depth and character. Fired in a reduction gas kiln to cone 10, it's not just art—it's functional and food-safe. The exterior is the plain natural brown clay with no added glaze but I sanded it and it is fairly smooth to the touch. There are little sparkles that show in the fired clay when it's in the light. The interior is glazed with food safe high fire glazes. Great gift for the cat lover in your life. Can be used to hold a small bouquet of flowers or your favorite beverage.
