ReBcycle soda view mirrors consist of an acrylic mirror mounted in a used bottle cap (from a soda, root beer, pop, Coke, cola, or other non-alcoholic beverage) and attached to a bicycle spoke. The bike spoke can be shaped to fit on the temple of a pair of eyeglasses or sunglasses (with long and short versions), a different design can be attached to a helmet, and a third design can attach to baseball hats.
The mirror, if mounted on the left side and properly adjusted, is designed to help bicycle riders see vehicles approaching them from behind. Using the soda view mirror (adjusted to show just a bit of my left ear) has been helpful to me and I hope that others will love it.
Spokes for glasses are available in long or short lengths, depending on personal preference. Short spokes (with their mirrors) are usually between 4 1/2" and 5 1/2" long. Long spokes (with their mirrors) are usually between 6 1/2" and 7 1/2" in length. Some people prefer the long spoke because the mirror takes up less of the user's visual frame and it can be more easily adjusted to see around hair, hats, and such. Others prefer the short spokes because they easily fit in a shirt pocket and are slightly more lightweight.
Included below are links to videos of me putting mirrors on my glasses and on my helmet.

As shown in the videos, the spokes can be bent and cap rotated to improve adjustment for your particular pair of glasses or helmet in order to help you get the mirror to show objects behind you. Bend the spoke all you need to get the right position; the spokes are hard to break and I'm glad to replace any product that is broken or damaged in any way. If you are concerned about whether the mirror will work for your glasses or helmet please contact me.
The bike spokes are generally from Baltimore City bike repair shops and local cyclists and vary widely in style and character. The soda caps are from myself and my friends and are washed to remove any soda residue. Among the caps available are Izze Soda, Boylan's, Martinelli's Cider, Leninade, Jolt, and many more.
Due to limits on the number of options on Etsy I haven't included all of the caps from soda and other non-alcoholic beverages. If the one you want ends in some portion of “(pick which)” then I have several mirrors of that type and you should look at the photos and include in your order details about the bottle cap you want for your mirror.
If the bottle cap you want for your mirror is not among those in the pull-down menu, then please use the "Request Other" option and include information about what you want and if it’s included in the photos or not shown. If I don’t already have that mirror then I will do my best to get it locally. You can also provide me with bottle caps for your mirrors (and might get discounts for future mirrors in thanks).
There are many different ReBcycle Etsy listings for other beverages including kombuchas, ciders, and beers organized by state or region (MD/DE, PA, NY/NJ, New England, South, Midwest, Mountain West, California/Hawaii/Alaska, and Pacific Northwest), or by country or continent. If you're not sure where to find a bottle cap or don't see the one you want, please contact me.
These mirrors can also be used for rowing crew, kayaking, running, or other activities where seeing behind you would be helpful. Rowers generally want their mirrors adjusted for use on the right temple, as do bike riders in countries where vehicles drive on the left, so please let me know if that is your preference.
