I found these adorable little knit winter hats and thought they would be perfect for the sledding kids! You have a choice of assorted colors (rainbow), solid white, all green or all red. I don’t have many of the white ones, so if that is your choice, be quick! A simple scarf can be added by cutting a narrow strip of felt and “fringing” the ends. Make them long enough to tie around the neck or cut a slit in the scarf to pass one end through and make a loop that can go around the neck. I didn’t have time to make these before getting the hatted pegs online, so you are on your own for the scarves. I only have enough hats for 13 sled sets and may not be able to get more before Christmas! Definitely a limited-edition listing!!

The sled is our regular sled with 3 #5 Peg Dolls. These sleds are made from unfinished pine, so, although Ron flat sands the sled, you may have to do a little more sanding in the “tight” areas. The pegs are unfinished hardwood, commercially made. They are usually pretty smooth, but may need a little touch up here and there. The #5 Large boy/Man Peg Doll is 2-5/8 inches tall with a 7/8 inch diameter base.

The sled is made (by us) out of pine. It measures approximately 8 inches long by 2-1/4 inches tall and 1-1/2 inches wide with three 1 inch holes drilled to hold the peg dolls. The drill holes may need a little extra sanding attention as the soft pine tends to "feather" a bit when drilled. Other peg dolls (commercially made) with diameters of less than 1 inch will also love a ride in this sled. The #2 Small Angel and the #3 Girl with Skirt will fit nicely. The smaller pegs dolls will also work, of course, but will rattle around in the larger opening. The hats will not fit other peg dolls as well as they fit the #5 Peg!

Please be aware that some peg dolls can be a choking hazard for small children and pets. We do not recommend these items for children under three years of age or for those children who insist on putting everything in their mouths. Supervised play is best when peg dolls are involved! You know your child best, so please buy responsibly! The little knit hats are also a choking hazard so you might want to glue them on the peg dolls after painting the dolls.

The new USPS Ground Advantage for packages over 1 pound can be cheaper than Priority. If we have the boxes and if shipping is substantially cheaper, we will ship that way, but it will take longer. Please let us know if you would rather have Priority Mail with faster shipping!

Of course, you can always just order and pay, and we will refund any shipping overpayment if it is above $2.00! Our shipping refunds go through Etsy Payments and are done at the same time as we print up your shipping label.
