This starter’s origin story is as wild as a rollercoaster ride! Born during the shelter-in-place era, it all began with a family kimchee recipe from Jeolla Do, South Korea. We decided to use the kimchee juice for our original starter mix, just for kicks. Well, much like our family’s adventurous history of immigration to the United States, those bacteria decided to embrace a more Western vibe. They transformed into a vivacious culture that helped us bake the best bread in town. And then, one day, we thought, ‘Why not try square pizzas?’ It started as a gift, but it quickly turned into orders, which turned into a full-blown pizza business!
We feel like the luckiest pizza-makers on the planet, and we’re excited to share our quirky Asian American sourdough story and culture (both the starter and the tales) with all you amazing folks out there. Let’s bake up some fun and flavor together! 🍕🥖😄
